Deric Henderson Media has been appointed media consultant to Fiona Ryan, the first permanent commissioner for victims of historical institutional childhood abuse in Northern Ireland.
Her position was announced by the First Minister Arlene Foster and the deputy First Minister Michelle O’Neill.
Deric Henderson previously worked for the interim commissioner Brendan McAllister.
Ms Ryan (photographed) is the former chief executive of the Dublin based domestic abuse charity, SONAS, and before that was chief executive of Alcohol Ireland.
The permanent HIA post was one of the recommendations by the late Judge Anthony Hart who headed up the public inquiry which investigated allegations of abuse at 22 residential institutions run by religious, charitable and state organisations across Northern Ireland over a 73-year period.
