The world’s media coming to Royal Portrush for the 148th Open Championship

Hundreds of journalists and media personnel from all over the world are due on the North Coast this summer for the 148th Open championship at Royal Portrush.

TV crews, including Sky Sport and the US based Golf Channel as well as some golf correspondents, among them Alan Shipnuck from the Sports Illustrated magazine and Golf.com have already carried out reconnaissance missions as part of their preparations for coverage.

Deric Henderson, media consultant on the Open Championship committee at Portrush where he has been a member for over 25 years, is working closely with the R & A Corporate Communications Department and the Association of Golf Writers.

The championship has sold out for the first time in its history – more than 190,000 are due to attend over the week July 14-21 – and is expected to have a global TV audience of almost 100 million.
