The Open golf championship could be on its way back to Royal Portrush, it has been reported.
Two years after it returned to the North Coast for the first time since 1951, the Guardian’s golf correspondent Ewan Murray claimed the game’s governing body, the R & A, is considering the Dunluce links as the venue for the 2025 championship.
Deric Henderson is media consultant to Royal Portrush and handled all the club’s media affairs before and during the 148th Open in 2019.
Journalists from all over the world claimed it was one of the finest they had ever attended. Henderson worked closely with the US Golf Channel and senior GOLF magazine writer Alan Shipnuck (photographed) in the build up to the championship. Ian Ladyman of the Daily Mail said: “Deric is to the media in Northern Ireland what Rory McIlroy is to golf – absolutely peerless.”
