RHI Inquiry

The RHI Inquiry was set up to investigate and report fully on the non-domestic renewable heating incentive scheme in Northern Ireland. This includes the investigation of the original design and implementation of the scheme; the initial operation of the scheme; the circumstances relating to the imposition of cost controls in late 2015, as well as the circumstances relating to the suspension of the scheme to new applicants in early 2016.

The inquiry which was announced in January 2017, is being headed up by Sir Patrick Coughlin, a former NI Court of Appeal judge. He is being assisted by Dame Una O’Brien, a former Permanent Secretary at the Department of Health in England, as well as Dr Keith MacLean, the Inquiry’s assessor who is providing advice and guidance on the technical aspects of the Inquiry’s work.
